Participate in our 2026 Community Engagement Survey
The Hastings Lake Stewardship Initiative is a community-led effort to support and strengthen care for Hastings Lake. Its purpose is to facilitate practical, collaborative stewardship activities, grounded in shared responsibility for the long-term health of the lake and its surrounding shoreline.
Hastings Lake is a valued ecological, recreational, and community asset. Maintaining its health requires coordinated, informed action across the watershed. This initiative provides a platform for residents to work together, access expertise and resources, and take meaningful steps that contribute to improved water quality, resilient shorelines, and a thriving lake ecosystem.
Key activities of the initiative will include:
Ongoing water quality monitoring to better understand lake conditions and track change over time.
Long-term shoreline naturalization and riparian enhancement, supporting erosion control, habitat, and water quality (including shoreline cleanups).
Facilitated resident discussions around in-lake treatment options, grounded in science and local priorities.
Educational workshops on lake ecology, best practices, and stewardship actions residents can take.
Incentive programs and funding opportunities to support shoreline and stewardship projects.
Resident coordination and collaboration, ensuring local knowledge, values, and concerns guide actions.
This Initiative is designed to be participatory and flexible, recognizing that effective lake stewardship depends on shared learning, trust, and sustained engagement. Whether you are interested in hands-on projects, learning opportunities, monitoring, or planning discussions, there are many ways to get involved.
LAUNCH EVENT: Please join us on Wednesday, May 27th at 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Hastings Lake Community Hall for a brief presentation and facilitated discussion about the initiative, and to share your thoughts about the state of Hastings Lake and what can be done to conserve and restore this important ecosystem.
